Moving And Storage Truck Packing
Step 1 - Using The Truck's Back Wall
Use the back wall to create stacked rows of boxes moving forward toward the door.
Step 2 - Mattresses and Box Springs
Use the side walls to stand mattresses and boxsprings upright upon their sides.
Step 3 - Cushion Mirrors
Use mattresses to stand mirrors upright between them.
Step 4 - Protecting Your Furniture
Moving and storage blankets should be used to protect your furniture. Plastic wrap restricts airflow, so use moving blankets.
Step 5 - Last In, First Out
Load the items you need first, into the truck last.
Moving And Storage Tips For Your Furniture
Empty Drawers & Remove Shelves
Emptying contents and removing shelving makes furniture lighter and prevents damage.
Padding
Use moving pads to wrap the furniture and secure them with packing tape.
Remove Legs
Furniture legs should be removed if possible. Place legs and hardware in a labeled plastic bag.
All About Boxes
Smaller Boxes: For heavier items like dishes and books use small boxes.
Larger Boxes: For lighter items like linen, pillows and towels use larger boxes.
Packing: Pack each box as full as you can without overstuffing it. Overstuffed boxes become distorted. Under filled boxes are easily crushed.
Wardrobe Box: A wardrobe box should ideally come with a metal bar to hang your clothes. Aligning clothes in a single direction helps reduce wrinkles.
Taping: Use quality packing tape. Apply 2-3 pieces along the opening seam and another 2-3 across to create a "plus" sign shape on top and bottom.
Labeling: Number and label each box with your name. Clearly label "Fragile" items.
Hassle Free Moving and Storage of Your Fridge
- Defrosting and Cleaning: Open the doors after unplugging it. Discard the contents. Scrub the inside using a mild abrasive and household cleaner.
- Remove Or Secure Shelves And Drawers: Remove or tape down shelves and drawers. Keep the doors open slightly to permit airflow.
- Use A Strong Dolly: Use an appliance dolly to move the fridge onto the truck and into the storage unit.
